It doesn’t stop there though. This Lumos Kickstart smart helmet also lets you communicate directional signals from your bike to other vehicles you encounter. You can use the included remote, or a hand gesture via an Apple Watch (sold separately). This allows you to wirelessly activate both front and rear turn signals on your helmet! In addition, as you brake, the rear red lights flash to alert other drivers to the slowdown.
Lumos also offers an app for your smartphone which allows you additional controls. You can adjust the settings of your helmet lights and check your battery life. Track your fitness activity by syncing with your Strava or Apple Health accounts.
Just like a normal bike helmet, the Lumos Kickstart also protects your head in the case of an accident. An EPS foam core design absorbs shock, and a polycarbonate shell mitigates damage. This helmet is lightweight, water resistant, and features 22 ventilated openings to keep your head cool. Best of all, it’s one size fits most! An adjustable retention system also allows you to adjust for a head between 21 1/4 to 24 inches.
