Stupid Deaths is a party game where you’ll need to sort out myths from reality. Hear about the unbelievable way someone met their end and decide if it really happened or is just an urban legend!
Questions span time from ancient history to modern day. You’ll need to try and use clues to wager your best guess.
This game is designed mostly for teens and adults due to the dark humor and concepts of death you’ll experience. We took a spin around the metaphorical graveyard in honor of Halloween coming soon, and you’ll find our full review below.
FAQs About the Stupid Deaths Party Game
What Age is Stupid Deaths Good For?
Stupid Deaths is recommended for ages 12 and up. The content of the cards covers the concept of death, some of them being somewhat gruesome. Use your best judgment if you plan to play with younger players.
Is Stupid Deaths Based on the Horrible Histories Series?
No, Stupid Deaths actually is not based on Horrible Histories at all. They’re in the same vein, though, so if you’re a fan of the show you’ll enjoy the concept of the game.
However, I find the board game to contain a lot less of the crazy and humorous scenarios seen on the show. Most of the cards feel more realistic and less extreme.
How Many People Can Play Stupid Deaths?
The party game of Stupid Deaths is designed for 2-6 players. For additional players, feel free to use teams instead of individuals.
Is There a Stupid Deaths Expansion?
There isn’t a technical expansion pack, but Stupid Deaths does offer a smaller version of the board game. This may be used as a standalone that’s great for portability, or it may be added to your original game like an expansion.
It’s called the Stupid Deaths Coffin pack and it gives you 90 questions and game instructions in an easy to transport coffin-shaped tin
How Do You Play the Stupid Deaths Game?
Stupid Deaths Board Game Rules:
- The objective of the game is guess whether a death scenario is true or false
- Getting it correct allows you to advance along the game board
- An incorrect answer moves the Grim Reaper along the board instead
- A player wins by being the last person standing, or the first person to make it all the way around the game board to the red skull space
Setup Directions
- Place the game board in the center of the playing area
- Each player selects one of the six pawn tokens, and takes one extra life token
- Next, each person should grab both a ‘true’ and a ‘false’ coffin-shaped voting card
- Place all pawn tokens being used on the green skull icon on the game board
- Set the reaper token on the red skull at the top of the game board
- Shuffle the Stupid Deaths game cards, and you’re ready to play
Stupid Deaths Gameplay:
- The oldest player at the table goes first
- That person draws a card from the play deck, and they read it out loud
- Each other player must decide if the death scenario read to them is true or false
- Players lodge their guess by displaying the corresponding “true” or “false” coffin card
- Once all players have voted, the reader reveals whether it was indeed true or not
- Any player that voted correctly moves their pawn forward one space (clockwise)
- If no players voted correctly, the reader moves their pawn forward two spaces
- In addition, the Grim Reaper should be moved forward one space for every incorrect guess made
- Then, rotate clockwise to a new reader and repeat the process
- Should the Grim Reaper catch up to you (either on or ahead of your current space), you must forfeit your extra life token and place your pawn one space ahead of the Reaper
- Once your extra life is used, the next time the Grim Reaper catches up to you, you’re out
- Play continues until there is only one person left alive (because the Grim Reaper got everyone else) or until the first player reaches the red skull space at the top of the board
