Land the coconut in the cup, and you get to keep the cup. This Coconuts game teaches hand eye coordination and depth perception in addition to being fun.
You’ll go nuts… coconuts that is, when you play the crazy monkey Coconuts game!
The crazy monkey Coconuts game is an award-winning dexterity board game from Underdog Games. Don’t let the fact that it’s kid-friendly scare you away. Coconuts is a game that will be loved by all ages! It brings the fun of classic carnival games into the home and is a perfect pick for family game night. It’s also a fun way to help kids with motor skills, depth perception, and overall dexterity!
Coconuts is designed for 2-4 players, and is easy to learn and play right away. In the box, you’ll find 4 mechanical monkeys, 4 scorecards, 14 plastic cups (10 yellow and 4 red), and 32 small green rubber coconuts.
How do I play the Coconuts crazy monkey game?
Playing the Coconuts crazy monkey game follows just a few basic instructions. First, place a scorecard in front of each player, and lay out all the cups in the center of the play area. Next, divide the coconuts evenly amongst players. Lastly, place a mechanical monkey in front of each player, closer to them than their scorecard. Setup is now complete, and you’re ready to play.
To play Coconuts, players will take turns launching a coconut towards the cups using their mechanical monkey. It is a spring-based mechanism, so how hard you pull down and release determines the trajectory of your coconut. It’s not just about aiming, but also about speed and height. If a player successfully lands a coconut in one of the cups, they remove that cup (coconut and all) and place it in one of the 3 designated spaces on their scorecard. As you fill the base 3 spaces, begin to stack upward in a pyramid shape. The first player to get six cups total (3 base, two middle, one top) wins the game. Alternatively, if no one has a pyramid and everyone is out of coconuts, then the player with the most coconuts in the cups on their scorecard wins.
It seems straightforward, but there are a few details that add more of a challenge. If a player lands in one of the 4 red cups, they get to take a second turn. Additionally, if a player shoots a coconut into one of the cups already stacked on your scoreboard, they may steal that cup from you and place it on their scoreboard! This can become even more important if the game comes down to counting coconuts, since a stolen one will have 2 or more.
