You kids want a treehouse? Well, I don’t know the first thing about building one, let alone safely. So, I think I’ll take a shortcut and go with the pop up treehouse tent instead. I’m pretty sure I can handle setting it up!
A pop up treehouse tent is a pre-made hanging fort, complete with its own canopy. It hangs in a large tree and is secured using a steel frame and straps that attach to the tree. It’s both simple to set up and take down, so if you move, you can take it with you.

I remember when I went through my tree climbing phase as a kid. It probably would have been much less painful with a ladder and a pop up treehouse tent to climb into. I’m still wincing at the amount of bark I picked out of my hands.
This treehouse mounts to a large, sturdy tree in your yard. It doesn’t even need to have branches! Your pruned trees are excellent candidates.
The tent itself is composed of a powder-coated steel frame for stability. It mounts on the tree trunk using several buckled nylon straps, which you ratchet down onto the tree. You’ll probably need a ladder to install as this treehouse is designed to be placed about 8 feet above the ground.
For the exterior, the tent is made from UV-resistant Teslin. A canopy at the top helps keep kids shaded during play. A mesh base allows for drainage after rain, but also helps keep things cool during active play.
A pop up treehouse tent is great for:

It may be set up in as little as 2 hours, and doesn’t damage the tree! That makes it easy to take down if you have harsh winters, to help extend its life. Additionally, if you relocate, the tent is easy to bring with you for the next yard!

An opening in the floor provides access to the fort, so you’ll want to grab one. A rope ladder will do the trick. For an additional challenge, I enjoy the tree climbing holds instead!

I’ll probably sneak out there when the kids aren’t using it for a quiet place to relax with a glass of wine and a good book!

The pop up treehouse tent is designed for use on trees between 1 foot and 2 feet in diameter. This is based on the needed support, and the size of the included ratchet straps.
Larger trees would work as well, but you’ll need to purchase larger ratchet straps to accommodate the bigger trunk separately.
