Sometimes, I want to use my pool for low impact exercising. Other times, I prefer to be a bump on a log and just lounge around getting my tan on. So, of course, when I saw the pedal pool lounger, I knew I had to give it a try. I mean, who doesn’t love multi-use items!
If you too are looking to enjoy the best of both worlds this summer, you’ve come to the right spot. I’ll give you my review to help you decide if this lounger is the right addition to your pool repertoire.
What is the Pedal Pool Lounger?
The Pool Candy pedal pool lounger is basically where a paddleboat meets a pool chair. You lounge in the seat portion, while using the built-in bike pedal style footrests to propel a four-sided paddle. There is no motor, and all movement is provided by human power.
The appeal is that unlike a regular pool lounge chair, you can get a workout in by paddling around your pool. It also helps me reach my drink pitcher I left on the other side without having to doggy paddle or get out.
Features of the Pool Candy Pedal Pool Lounger
- Made of thick PVC
- Designed for use in calm waters
- Supports up to 250 pounds
- Built in headrest
- Hand grip on each side for support
Pros and Cons: Things to Know About the Pool Candy Pedal Pool Lounger
Largely, I think the pros far outweigh the cons of this pedal pool lounger. If you’re in the market for something you’ll use for light exercise, then the lack of a motor isn’t going to deter you. Once it’s blown up, it should be good to go all season long.
Are There Different Versions of the Pedal Pool Lounger?
No, there are no different versions of the pedal pool lounger.
At time of writing, this is a fairly new product, so we may see this change in the future. There is, however, a motorized pool float version if you prefer to jet around the pool without having to work for it.

Similar Products to the Pedal Pool Lounger
Here is how the Pool Candy pedal pool lounger compares to similar products:
Compared to the Pool Candy, the Intex Wet Set Pedal Paddle Boat:
- Lacks a headrest (though does offer a back rest still)
- Does not have a cup holder
- Is shorter overall (56 ¾” long vs 60”)
- Has no armrests
- Offers a lower price point
- Has been discontinued
In short: While it’s a pretty comparable product otherwise, the Intex lounger hasn’t been in active production since the 1990’s. You can still find it on third party reselling sites such as eBay, but not from a regular retailer.
If you had it and loved it, then you’re going to love this modern Pool Candy option. I think it brings all the great features of the Intex, but adds in modern comfort and amenities for a win-win.
Aside from the motorized option mentioned earlier, there are no similar products to the pedal pool lounger that are currently available.
Our Overall Ratings of the Pedal Pool Lounger
Bottom Line
If you want a comfortable pool lounger with the option to get some low-impact leg work in, then I think this Pool Candy pedal powered lounger is a great pick. It’s easy to inflate for use and deflate for storage. The cup holder and grab handles make it convenient to use.
All in all, this lounger gets a seal of approval from me. If you need me, I’ll be in the pool, circling around with my cocktail.
