The design is composed of four 17.7″x 11.8″ vinyl sheets, which makes them easier to manage for installation. The complete design is about 32” x 30” so I find it’s best for smaller spaces. You won’t be turning entire hallways into lava-filled pits unless you use a few of them.
Made from high-quality, non-toxic PVC vinyl, this lava decal is easy to install and just as easy to remove. Simply peel it off when you’re done, and it leaves no marks behind! It’s also waterproof, so if you put it in the bathroom there won’t be any worries about damage from wayward water.
How do you install a lava vinyl floor decal?
Here is how to install your lava vinyl floor decal:
- Start with a clean, dry surface free of dust and debris
- Use a level to ensure an even start
- Remove about 1” of the backer from the first vinyl decal, and place it on the floor
- Smooth with your hand
- Begin pulling more of the backing away from the decal, smoothing it as you go
- Repeat until backing is removed, and decal is on the floor
- Line up the next sheet, and repeat the entire process
There are a total of 4 sheets that come together to make the completed design. I find that working from top to bottom is easiest, though there’s no hard and fast rule saying you can’t start on another side.
If you find any air bubbles, use a credit card or similar hard, flat tool to gently push them out. The better the seal to the floor, the longer your decal will last.
Can you use a lava vinyl floor decal on the wall too?
Yes, the lava vinyl floor decal is actually safe for use on walls, doors, or windows as well. The application steps are the same, except you’ll be working on a vertical surface.
There are a variety of other patterns available as well. To me, the floor will always be lava, but some of the space designs are a great portal to the unknown!
