I thought you kids said you were going to work on a puzzle? You settled on a puzzle board game instead with the Dimension game? That sounds like a good time; mind if I play with you? So, what is the Dimension board game, anyway?
The Dimension board game is a puzzle game that involves stacking spheres. You’ll compete head-to-head with other players, so quick thinking and smart decisions are key. Earn points by creating stacking combinations to outperform other players and win the game.
Make your next board game night 3D with the action packed puzzle Dimension game!
If you enjoy puzzles, stacking, and quick thinking, then you’ll love the Dimension game. This puzzle-style board game will have you arranging orbs into your own personal stack. By creating specific combinations, you’ll score more points.
In the box, you’ll find:
- 4 player trays
- 12 self-adhesive feet for them
- Overview cards for each player
- 60 spheres (12 of each in orange, blue, white, green, and black)
- Task cards (60)
- 90 point tokens
- 30 bonus tokens
- An hourglass
- Instructions
The Dimension game is designed for 1-4 players to enjoy and is recommended for ages 8+. While younger children may also like it, note that the spheres are similar in size to a marble and may be a choking hazard for those 3 and under.
Each round takes about 30 minutes to complete, so this puzzle board game won’t have you bogged down for hours at a time. So, get out there and think outside the box!
How do you play the Dimension game?
Here is how to play the Dimension game:
- Each player gets one game tray, an overview card, and 15 spheres (3 of each color)
- Place the spheres in the arc-shaped slots of the tray
- The center cutouts (7) are for stacking
- Six task cards are chosen at random and displayed to all players
- Flip the hourglass timer to start when you’re ready to begin
The round ends when time runs out, and each player will tally their points. Repeat for subsequent rounds. Points are final after six rounds, and the person with the most points is the winner!
Dimension game rules
Here are the Dimension board game rules:
- All players play at once (there are no turns)
- Stack your spheres using the central holes on the game board
- The base holds 7, the second layer 3, and one at the top. You should have a minimum of 4 orbs left over each round. Sometimes it will benefit you to not play the maximum if it would cause you to forfeit tasks
- Try to complete stacking challenges as dictated on the tasks. For example, “the sum of orange and blue orbs must be exactly four”, “orange and green must not touch”, “there must be more orange than black”, or “orange must not be on top of any spheres”
- You’ll earn 1 point for each sphere you play per round
- You lose 2 points for every task you are unable to complete. Have one player read them aloud and each player should do a check for each task
- Add and remove the corresponding number of points tokens to your stack
- Should you complete all tasks in a round, you earn a bonus token
- If you also use one of each color orb in a round, you earn an additional bonus token
Repeat this through 6 total rounds, using a new set of task cards each time. At the end of six rounds, bonus tokens are exchanged for additional points. If you have 3 or fewer bonus tokens, you’ll actually lose points at the end. Four or more bonus tokens will add to your point total.
Once you’ve exchanged bonus tokens for points, count up remaining points and the person with the most is declared the winner!
I love that this game mixes strategy, luck, and quick thinking all into one fun puzzle board game!
