You’ll receive a total of three wooden staves in this set:
- American White Oak, which imparts deep and smooth toffee, vanilla and caramel notes
- Hard Sugar Maple, giving a taste reminiscent of sugar cookies
- Cherry wood, which adds a tart, sweet taste of, well, cherry
The set will smooth and mature up to nine 750ml bottles of your choice of bourbon or whiskey (alcohol not included, sorry). That’s not to say it’s not good in other liquors. It also goes great with vodka, and I personally enjoy Oak in a bottle of rum.
In addition to adding top shelf flavors, these whiskey barrel staves also help to lessen that “burn” of any alcohol you’re drinking neat. In just a 3-4 days after placing the stave, you’ll notice a difference in flavor, color, and smoothness.
