Why are there so many blankets on the bed? You’re that cold? You could just use that electric blanket your mom got us. You don’t like them because you’ve heard they’re dangerous to sleep with? Well, how about this smart water heated mattress pad instead? It uses hot water instead of an electrical cord to heat the blanket, making it safe and cozy!
Heated mattress pads, especially those that are heated with hot water, are entirely safe. Unlike a heated blanket, there is no electricity in a heated mattress pad. This reduces the potential for burns and electromagnetic exposure.
Sleep comfortably and safely all night on your water heated mattress pad!
Unlike a traditional electric blanket, a water heated mattress pad can be left on all night. While the electric type can leave you open to burns or electrical issues, a heated water pad only uses hot water. In fact, this water heated mattress pad comes with a sleep mode pre-set! The pad will heat to 131 degrees Fahrenheit and stay there for an hour, before dropping down to your favorite pre-set temperature. A smartphone app also lets you control the temperature, the timer, and the on and off functions anytime. The timer can be set for between 0-24 hours for an auto shutoff, so whether you’re taking a quick nap or sleeping through the night, you’re covered. Best of all, a memory function brings your heated mattress pad right back to where you left off!
There are five other safeguards built into the water heated mattress pad for your safety. An alarm will sound if water is running low, so you can address it timely. If the water does run out, the system will automatically stop heating to prevent burnout. It’s also equipped with anti-freeze and anti-scald protection to keep you safe. Finally, a machine overheat protection ensures that even if there’s a malfunction, you’re completely safe.
Does a heated mattress pad use a lot of electricity?
Water heated mattress pads use around 30% less electricity than a standard heated blanket. The control unit sits on your nightstand or bedside table, and from there you plug it into the wall. Two plastic tubes run from the base unit to the mattress pad – one for water in, and one for water out. The bedside unit heats the water, then pushes it into the tubing system that runs through the mattress pad, delivering safe and comfortable heat. Cooled water returns to the unit for reheating, thus making a complete cycle. Since the electrical component never actually touches the water, there is no risk for shock. Additionally, since electricity is only used to heat water, and is not the actual source of heat, it’s more energy friendly than an electric blanket.
Can I put my fitted sheet over a heated mattress pad?
Yes! You can place a fitted sheet over your heated mattress pad. It functions just like any other mattress pad. If you want to skip it, that’s alright too. This water heated mattress pad is designed with two layers of down alternative for padding on either side of the tubing system. It is then covered in a soft, breathable microfiber with a woven 3D square pattern for additional comfort. The edges are bound for durability even after use.
That being said, this heated mattress pad is not machine washable. It can be hand washed or spot cleaned, to ensure the inner tubing does not shift, pinch, or become damaged. With this in mind, you may want to use a fitted sheet or another form of mattress cover to prevent dirtying of the heated mattress pad.
