Sand art pictures contain water and air bubbles in addition to the sand. As you flip the frame over, the sand is forced between the air bubbles, causing it to distribute into different patterns. Since water is the primary liquid in a moving sand art picture, evaporation is a common occurrence. Each kit comes with an injector, which can be used to adjust the water levels. Larger openings between bubbles make for faster flowing sand, resulting in softer peaks.
