Sprout Seed Pencil – Grow Flowers with this Plantable Pencil
Whoa there Timmy, don’t throw away that pencil! I know the temptation is there when you’re done using it. However, I got us the Sprout seed pencil, so it’s filled with seeds we can plant. I think that’s a great way to reuse our school supplies! So, what are seed pencils?
Seed pencils, like the Sprout, are an eco-friendly pencil with real plant seeds inside. When done using the pencil, it can be planted into the ground or a planter. The remaining wood will decompose, and the plant will sprout and grow. They’re a sustainable option for an everyday utensil.
The plantable Sprout seed pencil works with your old pencil, soil, water, and sun!
Gone are the days of throwing an old pencil away when you use a Sprout seed pencil. These wooden plantable pencils are made from eco-friendly, sustainable wood. On the end of each pencil, in place of an eraser, you’ll find a seed capsule. When your pencil is too short to use, simply plant it like a normal plant seed.
This package of eight Sprout pencils is a variety pack. You’ll get eight seed pencils, with an assortment of plants, such as:
- Basil
- Chia
- Carnation
- Daisy
- Forget-me-not
- Sage
- Coriander
- Thyme
- Cherry tomato
- Lemon balm
- Red flax
- Calendula
From this assortment, you’ll be able to grow beautiful flowers or delicious herbs. It’s a practical choice for any home garden. The best part is that you’ll be able to use the pencils just like a regular writing utensil until you plant. They sharpen with a standard #2 pencil sharpener and are perfect for home, office, or school.
How do you plant a sprouting pencil?
Planting a sprouting pencil is easy, following a few simple steps:
- Choose a pot. A small planter, around 6-8” in diameter will do. Ensure it has a drip pan for watering.
- Fill it with soil. Potting soil is a good choice, and make sure to moisten it.
- Plant the sprouting pencil. Place your pencil stub, seed capsule down, at about a 30-degree angle. Make sure that the entire capsule is covered with dirt.
- Place your plant in indirect sunlight. Near a window, but not in the direct sun, is ideal. A warm environment works best.
- Water regularly. Check the moisture level every couple days, and wet soil as needed.
- Watch it grow. Depending on the specific plant, sprouts should appear in 1-4 weeks.
