Product Description

Hot Ash Stove Mini

Hot Ash Mini Rocket Stove

Once you try our titanium rocket stove you won't ever need to look for another. This light and compact model is carefully constructed to meet your backpacking needs. Our products are made in America so you know the quality of this stove is built to last.

Play with fire and never get burned

The chimney and burn chamber of the Hot Ash Mini are made from .020" titanium. While the front and rear feet are made from aluminum to add additional strength when using heavier kits.

*While these feet do get hot, they will not heat up enough to release anything harmful into the air.

How it Works:

Once you light your fuel, the fire burns sideways because of drafted air. This air hits the back of the stove, creating turbulence - and thus a secondary burn. Because of the bottom chamber, pre-heated air combines with the secondary burn to create a super-hot fire!

Ultralight Rocket Stove

Ultralight Rocket Stove
Main parts of this rocket stove body are made of titanium except the aluminum pieces that serve as the feet (one of which also functions as the fuel feed ramp) for the device. Weighing only 9.48 ounces (268.8 grams) on my science geek triple beam scale, pieces nest for carry into a rectangular shape occupying a 8 x 2.25 x 2.5-inch footprint. A U.S. Dollar Bill is shown in my photos for sizing comparison against assembled stove. At price point of $60 USD at time of writing, you definitely pay a premium for light weight and portability. The biggest drawbacks I find with current design of this unit are:• getting your fire started is somewhat difficult (to me, a base design issue)• small feed ramp/tray size• no provision to dump ashes while unit is operating• proprietary wing nut/assembly stud introduces unique potential failure pointNo assembly instructions or helpful use suggestions were provided with unit I received, and I had to go back to advertising photos to initially “put the puzzle” together. If either of 2 wing nut/studs (attracts a magnet) were lost, ability to use this small stove would (at minimum) be severely compromised if not totally eliminated. As with any rocket stove, constant fuel feed is required, and this unit would do best on small twigs. While I originally got this to put in my 72-hour Get To Safety Bug Out Bag, I’ve decided it’s too complicated with use scenarios too tightly constrained for success in that context. In the context of relaxed recreational/family camping, it will make for an interesting (albeit very expensive) diversion in “who can get it to boil water in the quickest time” competitions. An oversized cloth bag (ostensibly for twig collection) was provided.I deducted one star from my overall evaluation due to the high unit cost and the fire-starting concern.I hope you think my comments and photos were helpful.

3.0 out of 5 stars No Assembly Directions, Part Features Missing
Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2022
I don't know what it is about products I get through Amazon vine, but the majority seem to be lacking instructions on assembly or use. I had to go back to the only picture on Amazon to see how to put it together, only to determine that the parts are "not to print," as we would say in my line of work. There should be a hole or slot where the blue dot is shown in the picture for the tab on the forward foot/fuel chute to slide into. I would think that these parts were being cut on a CNC machine and getting cranked out, so for a feature to be missing is really a red flag. I wonder if it is missing on a lot of them and people don't realize it? Hold my beer I'll just bend this tab back out of the way...

I'll defer to the other reviewers on ease of use until I can get mine reworked and put together properly. I'm not really keen on drilling Ti, so we will have to see how that goes. I can't comment on durability, but I am concerned about all of the rivets used in its construction. The thermal cycles may do a number on them and lead to loose parts. I think welding the parts together would be stronger and cheaper, even if you used spot welds (And yes, I know Titanium can be tricky to weld)

I agree with fellow vine reviewer David W's comments on the wing "bolts.". If you lose one you're pretty much screwed (no pun intended). He answered my question about why this had such a big canvas sack shipped with it (to gather fuel) because I certainly couldn't figure that one out. He and I are also alike in that I got this to put in my "Go Bag," but it's a little too fussy for that purpose. That's why God invented Sterno.
